Kalinga State University and Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Kalinga strengthened their partnership in advancing agricultural education through the official turnover of a tractor to the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering program (BSABE), on March 18, 2025, at the Alumni Center.
Witnessed by the University Officials, PLGU Agriculture Unit, Faculty and BSABE students, the ceremony highlighted the important role of the government and academe in empowering future Agricultural Engineers with hands-on experience.
In her welcome remarks, Dr. Marilou Adora, Vice President for Academics and Student Development highlighted the importance of hands-on experience to the students and extended her appreciation to the proponent of the event.
Engineer Solomon Laoaten, event proponent emphasized that this donation has a big impact to the BSABE students and a great value to be added to the instruction, research and extension of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.
โWe hope that this tractor will help the studentsโ said Engineer Domingo A. Bakilan, Provincial Agriculturist highlighting the need for the students to have a laboratory and technical hands-on experience.
โYou are given a chance to make use of this equipment to further your learnings, said Dr. Joy Grace P. Doctor, university president, challenging the students to do their best and inspiring the students with more collaboration and partnerships in the future.
Hon. James S. Edubba, Provincial Governor also expressed his message of support emphasizing more partnerships in the future and left an inspiring note that partnerships like PLGU and KSU will define the future of Kalinga.
Dr. Ronald U. Wacas, college dean also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the PLGU of Kalinga and emphasized that this donation not just empowers students but also contributes to the sustainable growth of the provinceโs agricultural sector.
