The Commission on Human Rights- Cordillera Administrative Region (CHR-CAR) successfully conducted a comprehensive training session on the Center for Human Rights Education (CHRE) for designated KSU trainers on September 18-19, 2024. This event took place at the Research and Development Training Hall and was attended by 23 designated KSU CHRE trainers along with student representatives.

The primary objective of this training was to orient and equip the CHRE trainers with essential knowledge regarding the functions and management of the CHRE. It emphasized the integration of human rights concepts and principles within the curriculum, particularly in relation to research and extension programs.

Educational Management of CHRE Operations and Accreditation

Fundamental Concepts and Principles of Human Rights and State Obligations

Civil and Political Rights

Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ESCR)

Rights of Indigenous Peoples

The training featured three distinguished resource speakers: Mrs. Marlyn G. Palangdao, Training Specialist at CHR-CAR; Ms. Rizel N. Villanueva, Information Officer II at CHR-CAR; and Atty. Joecle R. Dongla, Attorney IV at CHR-CAR. Each presentation was followed by an engaging open forum, allowing participants to raise questions and discuss pertinent issues related to human rights.

At the conclusion of the training, Mr. Jefferson S. Backong, the designated KSU-CHRE Director, shared valuable insights from the 2024 CHRE Human Rights Education Forum, which he attended on September 11-12, 2024.

This initiative reinforces the commitment to advancing human rights education and fostering a deeper understanding of human rights principles among educators and students alike.
