Kalinga State University office of the Vice President for Research and Development, Extension, and Training conducted two-day trainings on Streamlining Research Processes: Enhancing Capabilities and Harmonizing Operational Processes, on October 1-2, 2024, at Conference Room, Research and Extension Training Center.

Spearheaded by the Vice President for Research and Development, extension and Training, Dr. Lope T. Buen, organized by the RDE staff and Directors for Research and Extension. Attended by the College Research and Extension Chairpersons, Center Directors, Director for Research and Extension Services, and KSU officials.

The two-day training aimed to enhance the skills and competencies of individuals involved in research processes, to improve overall performance and productivity and evaluate the functionality and compliance of the Research and Extension Council with existing guidelines, to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in research and development activities and streamline research processes and to eliminate inefficiencies and optimize resource utilization.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Lope T. Buen, VP-RDET, said that this training helps to enhance operational processes by eliminating unnecessary steps and reducing manual tasks. This results in time, cost savings and increased productivity. He also explained that streamlining processes improves customer satisfaction by ensuring on time delivery of services and reducing delays.

Dr. Loneza G. Carbonel, Research Director, explained that the purpose of this review and update of the research manual is to ensure that it remains relevant, comprehensive and effective for researchers. Over time, advancements in research methodologies, changes in regulatory requirements and the emergence of new ethical considerations necessitate periodic updates to maintain the manual’s utility and accuracy.

In his message, Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang, University President, represented by Dr. Romualdo U. Wacas, Chief Administrative Officer, emphasized the importance of how to align and integrate various operational processes to work cohesively towards common research and development goals. He also provided insights to update the manuals and the things to look into to improve the extension and services.

Part of the program was the discussion of Publication and Intellectual Property, Presentation of Philippine Development Plan, Research and Extension Agenda, Finalization of Research and Extension, Harmonization of Research and Development Manual and Harmonization of OVPRDET Manual.// Nick Awisan-UIO
