Two faculty members from Kalinga State University’s College of Engineering and Information Technology, Mrs. Pommy Frances Viloria and Mrs. Cecille Amon, recently participated in the School and Workshop on Selected Topics in Arithmetic Algebraic Geometry held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from October 28 to November 2024. Both educators specialize in teaching mathematics subjects and represented KSU in this significant academic event.
The workshop aimed to familiarize participants with contemporary topics in mathematics, particularly in the field of Arithmetic Algebraic Geometry. Among the highlighted topics were:
Rational actions of algebraic groups
Algebraic groups and their torsors
Elliptic curves and their Mordell-Weil groups
Stark units and L-series of Drinfeld and Anderson modules
Connections in Algebraic Geometry
Introduction to arc space in singularity theory
Representations of numbers by binary forms
The lectures were conducted by prominent experts in the field, offering participants insights into cutting-edge research. The event was specifically designed for senior undergraduate and graduate students, fostering a deeper understanding of advanced mathematical theories and their applications.
Mrs. Viloria and Mrs. Amon’s participation underscores KSU’s commitment to academic excellence and its support for faculty development. By engaging in such high-level academic workshops, they contribute to enhancing the university’s mathematics curriculum and inspiring students to explore advanced topics in mathematics.
