The Central Student Government (CSG), in collaboration with the Student Supreme Council (SSC), conducted a Student Summit themed “KSU Strong and United: Leading with Empowerment, Adaptability, Dynamism, and Service” on November 22, 2024, at the Student Center, Bulanao Campus.
This university-wide initiative was spearheaded by the Office of Student Development Services and Placement Services, under the leadership of Dr. Mary Joyce D. Wangiwang, and organized by campus chairpersons Mayshein L. Balagso (Bulanao Campus), Michael Saflor (Dagupan Campus), and Renee Putic (Rizal Campus). It brought together student leaders and representatives from various organizations across KSU’s three campuses.
In his opening remarks, Student Regent Christopher Cubit highlighted the summit’s purpose which are to provide a platform for showcasing organizational action plans, accomplishment reports, and strategic initiatives. He emphasized the summit’s role in fostering connections among student leaders, encouraging collaboration, and building a strong foundation for achieving their shared objectives of service and leadership.
Delivering an inspirational message, University President Dr. Joy Grace P. Doctor underscored the values of punctuality, cooperation, time management, and discipline as essential traits for effective leadership. She encouraged the participants to embrace the opportunity to engage, learn, and collaborate.
“You are the heart and soul of this university. Each of you possesses unique talents, dreams, and aspirations. By uniting as one, we can truly make a difference. Let us demonstrate to our community, province, and the world what KSU is capable of achieving.” President Doctor added.
Dr. Doctor further urged the participants to leverage the summit as a forum for innovative solutions and to foster connections with like-minded peers.
During the summit, chairpersons Michael Saflor and Mayshein L. Balagso shared insights on effective leadership, emphasizing the importance of resilience, self-improvement, and adaptability. They reminded participants that great leaders lead by example, embrace challenges, and use criticism as a catalyst for growth.
The program also included presentations of accomplishments by various campus organizations, showcasing their contributions and plans to further the university’s mission of excellence and service. The event concluded with renewed commitments to collaboration and empowerment, setting the tone for future endeavors.
