Determined to consistently exert efforts in promoting the Bamboo preservation and sustainability over the entire province of Kalinga, Foresters from the university visited the municipality of Pasil on November 28, 2024 to present a brief orientation of their project on Bamboo Industry Development.
Led by project team leader, Forester Victorino Bayed, the team was given the opportunity to present the university’s project during the 2nd semestral Municipal Development Council (MDC) meeting of LGU Pasil, held at Amdalao, Guina-ang, Pasil Kalinga.
In response, the team had an overwhelming support and appreciation from the Municipal Officials led by Hon. Mayor Alfredo Malannag. Present were barangay officials and LGU personnel, given that the municipality was mentioned by Forester Bayed as highly potential for bamboo production.
Evident to the positive responses from the municipality, various bamboo enthusiasts expressed their interest as they voluntarily accompanied the team to their private properties expressing their willingness to let the university’s initiative maximize the resources they have.
This partnership marks a crucial step in KSU’s mission to develop a thriving bamboo industry in Kalinga, fostering economic opportunities and environmental conservation. Through continuous collaboration with local government units and community stakeholders, the university aims to transform bamboo into a cornerstone of sustainable development in the region.
