December 04, 2024 – In support to the Provincial Local Government Unit on the 18-day campaign to end VAWC, Kalinga State University Non-Teaching Personnel actively participated in the First Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE) Kalinga Summit with the theme: “Kalinga, Mantimpuyog Kodjongan Jin VAWC” at the Kalinga Sports Center, Bulanao, Tabuk City, which brought together different groups of men from various agencies in the province.

The MOVE is an organization of men who committed themselves to being actively involved in the elimination of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) and aims to promote unity to fight and end VAWC in the province.

In his message, Hon. James S. Edduba, Provincial Governor, represented by Johnny M. Maymaya, Chairman, Council of Elders of PLGU Kalinga said, this summit will serve its purpose in creating for safer communities and promoting the welfare of Kalinga women and their children in the province. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to all MOVE participants in displaying their courage in standing up and challenging VAWC.

Part of the program was the discussion of the legal luminary on Republic Act 11930 which focused on online sexual abuse of exploitation of children and Republic Act 11648 about strong protection against rape and sexual exploitation and abuse by Judge Romelyn B. Gayagay-Alinao which emphasized the importance and functions of this Republic Act to all MOVE members.

One of the highlights of the program was the contested activities where Kalinga State University MOVE bagged the overall champion. The contested activities are,

-Quiz Bee – Champion

-Battle of the Band – Champion

-Best Cluster Presentation- Champion

-Logo Making – 1st Runner up
