On February 21, 2025, a testimonial dinner was held at Henry Hall, Las Vegas Hotel, Dagupan, to celebrate the success of Kalinga State University’s September 2024 BAR passers. This event has become a tradition, occasionally celebrating the success of those who passed the BAR exam.

The event was attended by the professors from Kalinga State University, College of Law, the third year and fourth-year law students, and the honorees with their family, friends, and relatives. The gathering is not only to acknowledge success but also the opportunity to listen to the inspiring journey of the full-pledged lawyers which motivate each law student as they move forward on the same track.

Atty. Brandon B. Dangatag, Head of the University Legal Unit and the program chair of the College of Law, expressed his admiration for the hard work and dedication of the BAR passers in his welcome remarks. Representing the university president, Joy Grace P. Doctor, PhD, to deliver an inspirational message is the vice president for administration and finance, Dr. Paulino Reyes III, remarking on the journey of the honorees towards their victory. In his speech, Dr. Reyes also reminded the passers and students of their duty as future lawyers by sharing the meaning of “Reason of Hope, Pillar of Justice.”

Judge Marcelino K. Wacas, Atty. Errol B. Comafay Jr. and Atty. Eduardo Buliyat and KSU’s former president, Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang, also shared their words of encouragement through their short messages, reminding new lawyers to remain humble, uphold justice, and continue striving for excellence in their legal careers.

Highlighting the event were testimonies from Atty. Chevrolette A. Alindayo, Atty. Maureen K. Bading, Atty. Benjie Bayawoc, Atty. Leonardo C. Egcatan, Atty. Mike Jezer P. Hortelano, Atty. Divina Grace L. Semilla and Atty. Michael S. Udan. They are proud graduates of the University and now, fully pledged lawyers. They uniformly shared their experiences, from their struggles, the challenges during the review, and the pressure of taking the BAR exam. Their stories inspire the law students in attendance, giving them hope and determination to push through their journey.

In closing, Atty. Rene A. Callueng delivered his closing remarks, thanking everyone for their presence and encouraging the new lawyers to use their knowledge and expertise for the good of society.

Indeed, the testimonial dinner was not just a celebration but also a moment of reflection and encouragement. It reminded everyone of the importance of perseverance, humility, and dedication.
