Kalinga State University commenced its Women’s Month celebration today, March 3, 2025, in front of the College of Education Building, aligning with the national theme: “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Angat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
Gender and Development (GAD) Director, Dr. Rhonda Vail Leyaley, represented by Ms. Irene Daguasi presented the background of the celebration, underscoring the crucial role of mothers in the family, emphasizing their love, appreciation, and unending support as the truest friends in life. Dr. Leyaley highlighted that Women’s Month is rooted in the observance of International Women’s Day on March 8 and serves as a call to action for unity and empowerment, ensuring that every woman is valued.
University President Dr. Joy Grace P. Doctor represented by the Vice President for Academics and Student Development, Dr. Marilou B. Adora, urged faculty members to integrate discussions on women’s rights and achievements into their curricula. She stressed the importance of recognizing and honoring the legacies of women as central narratives in education. Furthermore, she encouraged students to actively participate in the month-long activities and reminded the staff of the invaluable contributions of women to society
On the other hand, Dr. Pinky Larcelle L. Gas-ib, Director for Distance Education, Transnational Education, and International Linkages, presented the student achievers who recently participated in the ASEAN Universities Exhibition and Forum 2025, held at Sunway Lagoon Hotel and Resort in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Meanwhile, Mrs. Leah Bartolome, Principal of KSU Laboratory High School, introduced high school students who excelled in their respective events during the recently concluded CARAA 2025.
The Women’s Month celebration serves as a powerful platform to honor and advocate for women’s rights, contributions, and achievements across various sectors. The university continues to foster an environment of inclusivity and empowerment, reinforcing the significance of gender equality in shaping a progressive and equitable society.
