March 13, 2025. In line with the nationwide celebration of National Women’s Month, KSU-College of Education conducted a seminar on R.A. 9262 & R.A. 11313 awareness with the theme, “21st Century Future Teachers: Eliciting Awareness on the Anti-Violence Against Women Act (R.A. 9262) and the Anti-Bastos Law (R.A. 11313).” The activity was held at the College of Health and Natural Sciences’ Audio-Visual Room.
This initiative was made possible through a collaborative effort of the faculty from the College of Education led by the Dean, Dr. Maria Cyrila C. Bawer and GAD Director, Dr. Rhonda Vail Leyaley. Student leaders from the different student organizations of the college actively participated during the discussions of the two esteemed guest speakers, Atty. Brandon Dangatag, Head of the University Legal Unit & Atty. Maureen Bading, Legal Officer II of same office.
More than achieving its expected outcomes, the event embodied the acronym TEACH- Transformative Teaching, Empowerment, Awareness, Culture of Respect, and Holistic Development. Students were deeply engaged in discussions on their rights, strengthened by the knowledge they gained. This event was deemed beyond successful, serving as an instrument of realization that continuous awareness and reminders about these laws are essential to the KSU community.
