Kalinga State University – College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences conducted a seminar titled “AUTHOR: Articulating Unique Thoughts, Harnessing Originality, and Refining,” which also featured a book talk and a book launching session. The event was held today, April 15, 2025, at the Audio-Visual Room, CNHS Bldg., Bulanao Campus.

Spearheaded by project leaders Dr. Abigail Q. Ocay and Ms. Ethel Jovy G. Wacas, and organized by project members Ms. Lailani C. Banggawan, Ms. Odette C. Pannogan, Mr. Dennis P. Ocampo, and Mr. Ronald B. Bulwayan. Participated by the Faculty members, Student writers from the different Higher Education Institutions (HEIโ€™s), and media practitioners.

This training program is designed to equip participants with the essential skills needed to conceptualize, structure, and publish their own books. They will not only gain the technical know-how of book writing but will also develop a deeper appreciation of their role as writers in shaping narratives that inspire change and contribute to the globally connected world.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Marilou Adora, Vice President for Academics and Student Development represented by Dr. Abigail Q. Ocay, CLASS Dean, said that the event is more than just a celebration of books. It is a celebration of thought, of creativity, and of the courage to write. The AUTHOR initiative embodies the essence of academic freedom, intellectual curiosity, and the drive to make a difference through the written word.

Highlights of the program was the discussion on “The Writing Discipline,” which explored creative writing in the Cordillera region by Ms. L.A. Piluden, and “Paths to Publishing,” where Ms. Heather Pulido shared insights on choosing oneโ€™s journey toward publication. They both emphasized the importance of localization of language and specifying Cordillera writing.

In her closing remarks, project leader Ms. Ethel Jovy G. Wacas expressed her sincere gratitude to all the participants for their presence, sharing her hope that one day, one of them will celebrate the launch of their own book.
