December 12, 2024, KSU Conference Hall. KSU- College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) formalized a significant partnership with the Department of Science and Technology – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR) by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). This collaboration marks a strategic initiative to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice, preparing students for the demands of the digital era.

The partnership is centered on Project LODIxR (League of Developers Initiative by the Regions), a transformative program designed to provide IT students with hands-on On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities. This initiative immerses students in real-world IT development projects, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges that align with regional and national development goals.

Empowering Future IT Professionals

By participating in Project LODIxR, students gain critical exposure to professional work environments, cultivate essential work ethics, and contribute to technological solutions that address societal needs. This collaboration underscores KSU’s commitment to producing competent, service-oriented graduates who are well-prepared to drive innovation in the IT sector.

DOST-CAR’s role in this partnership includes providing supervision, technical expertise, and access to development projects, while KSU ensures that students are adequately prepared to meet the program’s rigorous demands. Clear guidelines and responsibilities are established within the MOA to ensure a structured and effective OJT experience.

Leaders’ Vision and Commitment

Dr. Ronald U. Wacas, Dean of CEIT, emphasized the long-term impact of this collaboration, noting that it promotes technical proficiency, professional growth, and ethical responsibility among students. “This partnership equips our students with the skills and values needed to excel in the IT industry while making meaningful contributions to the community.” He added.

University President, Dr. Joy Grace P. Doctor, highlighted the alignment of this initiative with KSU’s broader vision of becoming a “Knowledge and Technology Hub in the Asia-Pacific Region.” She remarked, “Through this agreement, we are not only enhancing the educational experience of our students but also advancing DOST-CAR’s mission of fostering technological innovation and capacity-building. Together, we are preparing a new generation of IT leaders who are ready to shape the future.”

The MOA signing reflects the shared commitment of KSU and DOST-CAR to advance regional and national goals in digital transformation and innovation. This partnership stands as a proof to the power of collaboration in shaping the next generation of skilled and socially responsible IT professionals.
