The Philippine Normal University (PNU), through the Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Center Philippines, has set to further its engagement with fellow Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) under the Philippine GCED Network through the establishment and enhancement of GCC Regional Hubs. It was held at the Hotel Lucky Chinatown, Manila on July 15-16, 2024.

During this workshop, GCC Philippines facilitated a planning session with the GCED Focal Persons from participating HEIs and TEIs. The focus was on identifying potential collaborative projects, organizing knowledge-sharing sessions, and initiating benchmarking activities.

Dr. Pinky Larcelle Gas-ib, Director for the Office of Distance Education, International Transformation, and International Languages, represented Kalinga State University, demonstrating her commitment to fostering global citizenship values.

The primary goal of the workshop was to establish and nurture regional hubs for ongoing collaboration. These GCC Regional Hubs are envisioned to serve as local centers of expertise, promoting GCED initiatives within their respective regions. By leveraging regional diversity, the collaboration aims to contextualize GCED programs to address the specific needs and contexts of different areas across the Philippines.

This ongoing project contributes significantly to the decentralization and democratization of GCED efforts, ensuring that innovations and benefits are equitably distributed across diverse regions. The emphasis is on creating a unified front in the pursuit of global citizenship values, with each region playing a crucial role in the collective advancement of GCED in the Philippines.
