To promote health and wellness within the university, the Sports, Physical Education & Health Organization (SPEHO) led by Ms. May Shiu Buslig has launched the JGD: Jump, Groove, and Dance – A Fitness Movement for All initiative. This program aligns with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Memorandum Circular No. 38, s. 1992, which mandates the implementation of a Physical and Mental Fitness Program for government personnel.
Recognizing the sedentary lifestyles often associated with office work and academic responsibilities, this initiative aims to encourage faculty, non-teaching staff, and students to engage in regular physical activity through fun and interactive dance fitness sessions. By incorporating movement and rhythm, the program serves as an effective way to enhance cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and mental well-being while also fostering camaraderie among participants.
The JGD initiative is designed to make fitness enjoyable and accessible, integrating dance-based exercises that not only promote physical well-being but also help relieve stress and improve overall productivity. Sessions will be conducted every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 4:00 to 4:30 PM, providing a consistent schedule for participants to engage in a healthy and active lifestyle.
With the implementation of the JGD program, the university anticipates a positive impact on the overall well-being of its community. Through this initiative, KSU continues its commitment to fostering an active, engaged, and motivated academic environment.
