In a spectacular display of Filipino artistry and heritage, the College of Education’s 2nd Year Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) students, under the guidance of Ms. May Josefa Buslig, captivated audiences with their dance recital, “Puso ng Sayaw”, on December 6, 2024, at the KSU Performing Arts Theater.
This vibrant showcase celebrated the richness of Philippine traditional dance, featuring well-loved folk performances like Tiklos, Lubi-Lubi, Polka sa Nayon, Ba Ingles, and Balitaw. The recital also paid homage to the unique cultural dances of the Cordillera region’s six provinces: Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Mt. Province, and Kalinga.
With every step and rhythm, the students demonstrated grace, skill, and artistry, embodying the pride of Filipino identity. The atmosphere in the theater was electrified by the enthusiastic applause and cheers of supportive parents, guardians, and friends, who filled the venue with their firm encouragement.
More than just a performance, “Puso ng Sayaw” underscored the university’s commitment to promoting and preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage. By spotlighting these traditional dances, Kalinga State University fosters a deep appreciation for Filipino identity among the youth, ensuring that these timeless traditions continue to inspire future generations.
