March 28, 2025– Kalinga State University welcomed Presidential Assistance for CAR, Engr. Antonio R. Tabora represented by his Special Assistant Socrates Abella Jr. from the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Cordillera Administrative Region under the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines, for a significant courtesy visit. The meeting, held at the KSU President’s Office, focused on exploring avenues for presidential support and collaboration to enhance the university’s development and contribute to the region’s progress.
Beyond discussions with KSU President Joy Grace P. Doctor, Special Assistant Abella Jr. took the opportunity to engage directly with students in the university lobby. He conducted informal interviews to gain firsthand insights into the students’ needs, concerns, and aspirations. This direct interaction underscored the Office of the President’s commitment to understanding the student perspectives and ensuring that support initiatives are aligned with their realities.
During the meeting with President Doctor, key matters were discussed, including the proposed strategic utilization of KSU’s existing assets to maximize their potential for academic and community benefit. A central topic was the potential introduction of a dairy farm at the KSU Rizal Campus. This proposal aligns with the university’s commitment to agricultural development and aims to provide students with practical experience in modern farming practices while contributing to local food security. The dairy farm initiative is envisioned to serve as a model for sustainable agriculture in the region, leveraging KSU’s expertise and resources.
President Doctor expressed her gratitude for the visit and the expressed support from the Office of the President, highlighting the potential for collaborative projects to significantly impact the university and the broader Kalinga community.
