KSU President Joy Grace P. Doctor embarks on a new responsibility in the Cordillera region’s agricultural research as she is introduced as a new member of the Regional Research and Development Coordinating Council (RRDCC) of the Cordillera Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development (CorCAARRD). Dr. Doctor attended her first CorCAARRD meeting today, November 26, 2024, coinciding with the organization’s 46th anniversary.

The CorCAARRD oversees research, development, and extension programs and projects of all 20 Consortium Member Institutions (11 R&D Implementing Agencies and 9 Non-R&D Implementing Agencies). It serves as a regional platform for planning, evaluating, and sharing resources among these agencies to advance the development of aquatic, agriculture, and natural resources.

The Department of Agriculture also introduced the Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Research, Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN) for the first time in CorCAARD at the RRDCC meeting. AFRREDN is a major partnership mechanism for AF R4DE stakeholders, including national government agencies, state colleges/universities, local government units, private institutions, and farmers’ cooperatives and associations.

This year’s RRDCC meeting is held at Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet. The next meeting will be in February 2025 hosted by DOST-PCAARRD.
