The celebration of the 30th Founding Anniversary of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the National Higher Education Day Summit (NHEDS) 2024, was held today, May 15, 2024, at the Philippine Normal University.

Addressing a gathering of esteemed leaders from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the nation, His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivered a resounding message advocating for equitable access to higher education.

“Hand in hand, we can return the rights and ensure equitable access to higher education no matter who you are or where you come from,” emphasized President Marcos Jr., highlighting the imperative of inclusivity in the nation’s education landscape.

The event marked a significant milestone in the history of Philippine higher education, bringing together key stakeholders to reflect on three decades of CHED’s crucial role in shaping academic excellence and accessibility.

With a focus on fostering collaboration and innovation, the summit provided a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas among presidents, administrators, and educators, aiming to chart a path forward towards a more inclusive and equitable higher education system.

President Eduardo T. Bagtang commended the collective efforts of CHED and the broader education community in advancing the cause of accessible education, stressing the importance of partnerships in realizing the nation’s educational goals.

As the nation commemorates the strides made in higher education over the past thirty years, President Marcos Jr.’s call for equitable access serves as a rallying cry for continued commitment towards building a brighter future for all Filipino learners.
