Youth Entrepreneurship Programs – Project MARITES (Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Students) is a collaboration of the Department of Trade and Industry – Cordillera (DTI-CAR), Commission on Higher Education (CHED-CAR) and Six (6) State Universities and Colleges in CAR to empower the next generation of business leaders and to equip young individuals with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to launch successful business.

The training was held at 2nd Floor, RnD Building, Bulanao Campus today, July 23 until July 26, 2024. Participants are the 31 YKalinga Youth composed of active Tulong Dunong Program/Tertiary Education Subsidy grantees of Kalinga State University and Saint Louis College of Bulanao and Business owners.

This program provides a platform for aspiring young entrepreneurs to explore their passions, develop innovative ideas, and gain practical experience in running a business.

The training aims to help the youth to Identify one’s values and beliefs, develop insight from business owners, and identify one’s strength and weaknesses as a business owner and characteristics of a successful business owner.

In his message, Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang, KSU President encouraged the participants to participate well in this training for them to gain knowledge, strategies and techniques on how to start and manage their own business effectively. He gave insight on how big business owners started their career and how they become successful entrepreneurs.

“It’s not late for us to have our own business or to become entrepreneurs basta kailangan mo lang magsipag at magtyaga”, he added.

Hon. James S. Edduba Provincial Government represented by Atty. Rommel C. Tommonggao, Provincial Legal Office, extend his heartfelt thanks to the DTI and the KSU for collaborating on this valuable initiative.

This workshop serves as a platform to equip and empower our youth to become successful entrepreneurs. He mentioned that in today’s where finding traditional employment is increasingly challenging, cultivating a spirit of entrepreneurship among our young minds is just beneficial but essential. “Remember, you have the potential to be your own boss, to chart your own paths towards a brighter future”. He added.

Mr. Renie M. Ramos, Provincial Director DTI-Kalinga extended his warm welcome to the trainers and mentees.” I encourage you to be more open minded, welcome changes and believe in yourselves”, he said in his message. “We believe in your potential and capabilities”, he added.

The program continued with the discussion of the background: Curricula and YEP alignment by Eleanor Basilio Saludares, Trade and Industry Development Specialist/Master Trainer of Yep Project.
